“Nothing can better soothe unhappiness than drinking wine.” Ancient Chinese people believe in this saying, modern Chinese too. But wine does not only mean a pain-killer. As a wine-lover, although I never let myself get drunk, I think wine means a lot to me.
Most people drink wine when feeling upset. I like to drink when I feel desperate. Drinking of course cannot help to tackle problems, but at least, after drinking I would just feel sleepy and after having a good sleep, I can get back my energy the day after to continue my work and to tackle trouble.
To gain excitement is another reason that makes us drink. Wine appears nearly in every celebrations and parties. Surely, even if we don・t drink, we can still have a great time during parties, but obviously, wine can really create a more exciting atmosphere and makes the people feel more passionate!
Bravery comes, after we drink wine! Many actors in different types of movies drink before they fight, especially in Chinese films with involves martial arts. For many people, including me, when we are not brave enough to do something that we have no choice but to do it, we drink a bit to make ourselves be .brave・.
For instance, one of my female friend has fallen in love with a handsome guy. She wants to tell him her feeling but feels too shy to act. One day, she was out for drink and when she was a bit drunk, she called the boy and told him everything! Now, they are a couple already. Wine sometimes acts as Venus!
When we want to create a relaxing environment, we drink. In many events alcohols are provided, like cocktail receptions, ‘Table for Four’ dating, casual interviews and orientation. Wine is provided to create a less stressful and more relaxing environment, so that people can make friends easily. The atmosphere would not be that relaxing without wine.
Press and academics always object against the habits of drinking. No doubt, drinking too much harms. Drunk-drives, health problems, crimes and some psychiatric illnesses are brought about by alcohols. On the contrary, experiments prove that drinking a little bit each day keeps us healthy.
To drink does not necessarily mean to err, what matters is always the amount you drink. Never rely on alcohol, it can soothe your pain, but cannot cure your unhappiness. Drink wisely, act wisely.
